Refund Policy
Thirty days, no questions asked.
A 14-day free trial, plus a 30-day refund if the purchase doesn’t pan out. No questions either way.
The short version. If you bought Dossiers directly and it is not for you, email us at [email protected] within 30 days of your purchase, with the email address you bought it under. We will refund you in full. No forms, no surveys, no negotiation. If you bought Dossiers from the Mac App Store, refunds go through Apple; see below.
Why both a trial and a refund
Dossiers is a focused tool for keeping a scholarly record. Whether it fits your work is a thing you can only really tell by entering your own year into it: the appointments, the courses, the students, the service. The 14-day trial is for an honest first look. The 30-day refund is the safety net for those who decide on the strength of the trial but discover, a few weeks later, that it’s still not for them.
So here it is: try the direct-download edition of Dossiers free for 14 days. If you buy and decide within 30 days that it’s not for you, ask for your money back. We will not ask why.
How to request a refund
Bought from dossiers-app.com (Gumroad)
- Send an email to [email protected]
- Use the email address you bought Dossiers under (or include the order number from your Gumroad receipt)
- That is it. You do not need to explain or justify the request.
We will process the refund through Gumroad within five business days. Gumroad typically returns funds to the original payment method within 5 to 10 business days after that, depending on your bank. If you have not seen the refund within three weeks of our confirmation, write back and we will look into it.
Bought from the Mac App Store
Apple handles Mac App Store payments, so we cannot issue those refunds ourselves. Request one from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. Apple’s own refund rules apply. If you run into trouble, write to us and we will help however we can.
What happens to your licence after a refund
Once your refund is issued, your licence key is no longer valid. You should uninstall Dossiers from any Macs where you installed it. Your library on those Macs will not be touched by the uninstall. If you would like to keep copies of your work, export the editions you need as PDF or Word from inside the app before uninstalling.
Edge cases
Buying again after a refund
You are welcome to buy Dossiers again at a later date if you change your mind. The 30-day refund window starts fresh with each purchase.
Buying on a launch promotion
Refunds are issued at the price you paid (including any launch credit or promotional discount). If you buy at launch pricing and then refund, a future purchase will be at whatever the current price is at that time.
If something has gone seriously wrong
If Dossiers is not working for you because of a bug rather than a fit issue, please tell us before refunding. We may be able to fix it quickly. We would much rather solve a problem than lose a customer to a bug.
Outside the 30-day window
We do not generally issue refunds after 30 days. If you have an unusual circumstance (for example, your Mac becomes incompatible with the version you bought because of an OS upgrade we did not anticipate, and we cannot help you get it running), write to us and we will do what we can.
Statutory rights
This refund policy is in addition to any statutory rights you have as a consumer in your jurisdiction. Nothing in this policy limits those rights.
